Contemporary sculpture in a peaceful garden in the heart of Summertown

The Turrill Sculpture Garden shows contemporary sculpture in a peaceful garden setting behind Summertown Library, OX2 7JN. It is freely open to the public.

Our exhibitions each year are designed to be varied: those that encourage children to be creative, group exhibitions of local sculptors and national level sculptors in solo exhibitions. We bring together an ever-changing series of fascinating sculptures in this peaceful garden setting, and most pieces are for sale; all profits being re-invested in the Garden.

Times of opening are Monday & Friday 09:30-17:00, Tuesday & Thursday 09:30-18:30, Saturday 09:00-16:00, Closed Wednesday & Sunday.

Natural Elements

This Autumn the Turrill Sculpture Garden hosts ‘Natural Elements’, pairing Jon Earney’s found-stone sculptures with Sally Dorrity’s hand-built, frost-resistant stoneware.  Her practice emphasises slow handbuilding, unique forms and simple, kiln-driven glazes that reference movement and natural texture. Jon Earney is a self-taught sculptor with roots in lapidary who sources stone from beaches, mountainsides and recycled woodland, revealing the quiet beauty shaped by tide and time.

Together, their works create a conversation between fired clay and carved stone, suited to the garden’s changing light and weather. The exhibition highlights local making, material curiosity, and the evolving crafts of two fine Oxfordshire practitioners.
