One of Oxford's most exciting new venues, The North Wall in South Parade is a purpose-built arts centre, created from a former Victorian swimming pool, which has won several national awards for its innovative design. The Centre comprises a 240-seat theatre, an art gallery, and drama and dance studios. The North Wall aims to fill a gap by offering an alternative to the mainstream, introducing Oxford audiences to award-winning work that does not normally come to the city: shows that require intimacy as well as shows that have a large-scale ambition but fit into the theatre's flexible space. The theatre also hosts jazz evenings, comedy with (among others) Mark Thomas and Mark Steel, children’s shows, contemporary and classical music, cabaret, and new exhibitions in the modern, light-filled gallery every three weeks .
