English Language Courses at St Clare’s, Oxford

St Clare’s has been welcoming students and adult learners to Summertown for more than 60 years. Indeed, for many local residents in this vibrant international community, St Clare’s brings back fond memories: it was their first contact with the UK.

The original mission, 'to advance international education and understanding', remains at the heart of St Clare’s today. There are now three schools: the Sixth Form College for IB, the International College for English Language and academic subjects and the International Summer School for English as a Foreign Language – all of which are based in and around Summertown.

How can we best help local Summertown residents?

Case Study 1
‘I have an adult friend or member of my family who would like to come to the UK to improve their English Language skills.’

Recommendations: a short course in the summer for 2 or 3 weeks for adult students (age 17+) or a longer course at St Clare’s International College throughout the academic year (minimum age 17+)

Case Study 2
‘I am a second language learner who wants to improve my educational and career prospects by developing my English Language skills.’

Recommendations: the University Foundation Course at our International College starting in September and October each year or English for Examinations at our International College starting every month or a One-to-one Course with your own personal language trainer, at any time of the year

Case Study 3
‘I have a friend or a member of my family has children who would like to combine a summer holiday in Oxford with learning English.’

Recommendations: a short course at one of St Clare’s International Summer Schools on separate sites:

• for juniors (ages 10-15)
• for teenagers (ages 15-17)
  

Transfers, accommodation in residence or homestay, welfare support, cultural and fun activities are part of the package – although we are happy for you to make some of these arrangements yourself.
